In celebration of the 100th birthday of Robert Rauschenberg, the Academy Art Museum presents Rauschenberg 100: New Connections, an immersive exhibition highlighting the artist’s lifelong commitment to experimentation and collaboration. At its center is Chinese Summerhall (1982), a rarely exhibited, one-hundred-foot-long color photograph documenting Rauschenberg’s first journey to China and his creative partnership with Donald Saff. Alongside this monumental work, more than twenty pieces from the Museum’s collection trace how Rauschenberg’s global travels, including in Florida and Maryland, inspired innovative approaches that continue to influence contemporary art and build cross-cultural bridges.
